Frequently Asked Questions

New Haven traffic

The New Haven Fire Department or the New Haven Police Department can request COMPASS during 911 emergencies, or COMPASS can be accessed through mobile outreach by the crisis response team. When accessed through outreach, the crisis response team uses the COMPASS van to engage individuals throughout New Haven.

If you or someone you know need help, please contact 911 for emergencies, 988 for suicide prevention or crisis services, or 211 for essential community services. Currently, COMPASS is only dispatched to complement and support the work of the New Haven Fire Department and the New Haven Police Department or through mobile outreach directly by the crisis response team.

Anyone 18 years of age or older and currently in New Haven is eligible for COMPASS services when experiencing a mental health or substance use crisis. Hours of operation for COMPASS are 10AM-6PM seven days per week.
