NEW HAVEN — Nanette Campbell and John Labieniec were in a van Wednesday morning on their way to meet with two homeless people, one of whom deals with alcohol abuse issues, at Edgewood Park as a part of their outreach routine.
When they got there and found out the men hadn't eaten in three days, Campbell headed back to the van, grabbed a $20 bill, took a card from Labieniec and walked up the street to get two orders of pork fried rice and egg rolls from Chen’s Kitchen.
Campbell came back about 10 minutes later, handed over the food and had a conversation with the men about how their week went and what their plans were.
